Meet Lisa Massaro, LMFT

Licensed Marriage Family Therapist

It can be hard to reach out for help, especially
when you’re used to being the one with all the answers.

maybe You’re here because you’re…

  • Struggling to speak up for yourself or say “no”

  • Feeling spiritually lost

  • Finding it difficult to feel any sort of peace

  • Experiencing racing thoughts, an inability to focus, or trouble sleeping

  • Feeling like your relationship is suffering or emotionally strained

Whatever your circumstances may be, you’ve been led here: a place of solace, learning, and illumination. Here, you can discover more calm in your life along with meaningful, fulfilling relationships. It would be my privilege to help you do that.

Authentic, real therapy.

My Approach

I believe you have all the answers already inside of you. My job is simply to ask the right questions and offer new perspectives in order to discover them together.

I often tell my clients, “I want to put myself out of business.” I recognize that you don’t want to be in therapy for the rest of your life, and I don’t want you to be either. Consider this place a steppingstone: somewhere you can feel supported in letting yourself be vulnerable and honest on your journey to a life of greater purpose and joy.

The truth will set you free, but it won’t always be comfortable.

The path to true self-discovery and freedom takes hard work and a clear perspective of who you are, your role in what’s happening, and what you need to change.

There’s a Māori proverb that says, “Turn your face towards the sun and the shadows fall behind you.” When your mind wanders off onto a trail of negativity and you need to find your way back, I’ll be there to teach you how to ground yourself in the present moment through gratitude. As you embrace the spirit of gratefulness, you’ll begin to find hope in the darkness that leads you to a bright, beautiful light.

Some of the methods I use…

Family Systems Theory

Family Systems Theory looks at how your family relationships influence you. It helps you see patterns that have shaped your beliefs, feelings, and behaviors throughout your life. Understanding these patterns can improve communication and help you build stronger, healthier relationships.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT) blends mindfulness with practical techniques to help you manage stress and negative thoughts. By focusing on the present and learning to address your thoughts more effectively, you can feel more in control and calm in your daily life.

Psychodynamic Theory

Psychodynamic Theory explores how past experiences shape your current behavior and emotions in order to uncover old patterns and feelings that might be holding you back. Gaining insight into these deeper issues can lead to positive changes and a better understanding of yourself.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.) is an emerging and evidence-based psychotherapeutic approach. Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.) is a dynamic and transformative intervention that can be used to help you overcome trauma, anxiety, and other mental health hurdles within a shorter time frame than talk therapy.
